February 2025 Regular Meeting Minutes

Orion Town Board Meeting – February 19, 2025

-Chairperson Marc Couey called the monthly meeting to order at 5:00pm.

Roll Call – Chairperson Marc Couey, Supervisor Don Stanke, Supervisor Joe Halverson, Clerk Diane Parduhn, Deputy Treasure McKenzie Couey, and Randy Olson. Absent Treasurer Judy Shadewald.

Agenda Properly Noticed – Clerk Diane Parduhn reported that the notice of meeting was posted on 02/18/2025

Approve the Agenda – Chairperson Marc Couey read the agenda as printed. A motion to approve the agenda was made by Supervisor Don Stanke, seconded by Supervisor Joe Halverson. Motion carried.

Approval of January Minutes – Chairperson Marc Couey asked if there were any changes or additions to the minutes for the January 2025 reg meeting. Hearing none, Chairperson Marc Couey called for a motion to approve the minutes as presented, Motion made by Supervisor Don Stanke and seconded by Supervisor Joe Halverson. Motion carried.

Treasurers Report – Deputy Treasure McKenzie Couey reported that the balance in the Town of Orion Checking account on January 31, 2025, was $614,519.48 per the bank statement. A total of $23,302.16 checks issued were outstanding as of January 31,2025, making the actual balance in the Town of Orion Checking account $591,217.32.

Clerks Report – Clerk Diane Parduhn reported:
• The next date for working on the Old Town Hall is March 1, 2025, at 10:00. The clerk has sent an email asking for other volunteers so the board members could empty the lockers and cabinet while volunteers help to sort the paper already semi sorted.
• The clerk reported the February election went smoothly, and the Town of Orion scored 100% in this election.
• The information required for the completion of the Expenses and Revenue sheet was not available in time to complete the document for review. The clerk will have the January document as well as February’s for the February meeting.

Approve Bills – Chairperson Marc Couey read the February bills presented for approval totaling $556,011.19, the list was reviewed by supervisors, and it was noted that the payment for dog tags should be $111.75 which made the total $544,947.94. It was also noted that the Bindl Bauer bill did not get resolved in time for the meeting. Supervisor Don Stanke made a motion to approve the payment of the bills totaling $544947.94 using checks #2005 – #2015 with the exceptions noted and the understanding that there will be a corrected billing sheet at the next meeting. The second was made by Supervisor Joe Halverson. Motion carried.

Roads Report – With warmer weather more work is being done outside. At the March meeting we will review the status of roads. Diane told Randy how nice the Mayfield Cemetery looks thanks to all the work that has been done to remove the overgrowth.

Fire Districts –
Muscoda – No meeting till March
Richland Rural – Supervisor Halverson presented the fire call report, Orion had one call this time. He also mentioned they sold a truck for $23,000
Richland Ambulance – No meeting

Other Business
Form CT –Joe Halverson will work on it after April 1, 2025
Cemetery – Information regarding cost of plots should be on the web page.
Old Town Hall – Chairman Couey has been contacted by Marsha Keller asking when the building will be empty. As previously mentioned, there is a date of March 1 to work on it again. The clerk has sent emails asking for volunteers to help.

CLEANING/SORTING OF OLD PAPERS IN OLD TOWN HALL – March 1, 2025, at 10:00 am.

AGENDA ITEMS/INPUT – Marc requested Clerk wages be put on the next agenda.

MOTION TO ADJOURN – Motion made by Supervisor Joe Halverson, seconded by Chair Marc Couey. Motion carried.
